Thank God for smokers. No, seriously. If it weren’t for smokers and the new(ish) Australian ‘you can’t smoke inside’ laws, we might never have been graced with the stunning rooftop bar we find at Siglo in Spring Street.
No longer allowed to smoke indoors, smokers have gone out or up. And at Siglo, it’s definitely up. This elegant saloon is perched on the rooftop of the famous Super Club, one flight up from the European. When the non smoking laws left the Super Club a little less animated than it had previously been, the owners moved up. How nice. Siglo overlooks the magnificently floodlit parliament building on tree-lined Spring Street. It’s worth putting up with the cigar smokers behind you. Their billowing puffs quickly rise to the heavens and you get to feel like a sophisticated Parisian on the left bank (of Melbourne). Tres chic.
